Lansing Police found more than $60,000 dollars in cash hidden in Father Wehlre's multi-million-dollar home this week.

It all started with the Lansing Police Department getting a tip - LPD wasn't even involved in the case.

They passed the tip on to the state police who used it to get a warrant to take a look inside the mansion on Noble Road.

Lansing Police told FOX 47 that the tip came from a credible source but they wouldn't get any more specific than that.

We do know the search happened just four days after Jonathan Wehlre's son, 34-year-old Christopher Brooks Wehrle, was arrested on drug charges.

Police won't say if there's a connection between the raid and arrest

Either way the information was good enough to get a judge to sign the search warrant.

Detectives went in on Tuesday and found more than $60,000 in cash in the basement ceiling tiles.

Most of the money was in bundles of $2000 each.

They were labeled "for deposit-only Saint Martha Parish And School."

Wehrle was home during the search.

He is charged with six counts of embezzlement of $100,000 or more.
