#TIMESUP rally for resignation at MSU

Posted

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WSYM) - Fed up with Michigan State University's handling of the Larry Nassar sex abuse scandal---students and activists are calling on interim president John Engler and the entire MSU Board of Trustees (BOT) to resign immediately.

FOX 47's Alani Letang was on campus during that rally outside of the Hannah Administration building speaking with protestors.
This has been an ongoing effort, that many in the community say will hopefully bring new leaders to the campus.

Protesters held signs that read "#TIMES UP JOHN AND BOT." This event is coming on the heels of many of the things that people said MSU has done wrong recently. They told Letang that includes revictimizing survivors and the University's poor management when it comes to the handling of sexual assault.

Many at the protest told Letang they will continue to protest until they see change because they will not forget the University's actions during this time.

It's the fact that these people represent the culture at MSU as it exists and how that hurts people. It hurts people in the community and it hurts survivors and the aftermath of their assaults. I was 12 years old when I walked on this campus and was molested and I will do everything I can to make sure that never happens to another little girl ever again." said Morgan McCaul, Larry Nassar survivor.

The faculty senate, lawmakers, and several newspapers have also called on the university to clean house.
