Tick season has arrived

It's the little black bug that can make you sick. The black-legged tick is out and about carrying diseases.

State health officials have some advice to help protect your family from lyme disease and tick bites.

If you have a tick on your body, remove it right away and call your doctor if you get a fever, rash, muscle and joint aches.

You can prevent tick bites by using an insect repellant that contains deet on your skin and clothing. Stay away from overgrown grass and when you come inside, always check for ticks on yourself and your pet and bathe as soon as possible.

You can wash your clothes in hot water and dry on high to kill any ticks.
