LANSING, Mich. — Three officers were shot Sunday in Comstock Township, near Kalamazoo.

Wood TV reports that the officers are in the hospital in stable condition.

Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller told Wood TV 8 that the officers have either already been released, or will be released Monday morning.

According to reports, the suspect shot and killed a hostage, and then opened fire on the three officers.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to 911 calls around 10:30 a.m. reporting an intruder inside of a home in on Proctor Avenue near King Highway in Comstock Township, east of Kalamazoo.

When officers heard gunshots they rushed inside the home.

That's when the suspect killed the homeowner, and opened fire on officers.

Fuller said the officers did not fire their weapons, and all shots fired were from the suspect.

The suspect tried to run, but was caught.

It is unclear whether the suspect and victim knew each other, though according to WOOD TV 8, Michigan State Police said no connection had been established as of early Monday morning.
