LANSING, Mich. (WSYM) - Thousands of Michiganders wrongly pulled off food assistance will get part a massive legal settlement.
The state cut assistance for anyone whose named turned up as fugitives wanted for crimes. But, attorneys argued, issues in the databases included wrong identities and old information, so the wrong people lost assistance.
The state settled for $47 million.
Those affected by the cuts will get about $3,000 each.
