It was all Spartan pride at the spring game.
"It just kind of kicks off football for us, gives us an opportunity to look at some of the new guys some of the new recruits that they could have coming in early," said Jeff Erickson.
For 13 years Erickson and his family have driven more than 100 miles to spend the day in East Lansing.
"We already talked about it, we'll be 80 years old wheeling our wheelchairs in here to tailgate" Erickson said.
And they want to bring in a new generation of Spartans to the stadium.
"When my kids come to school they're gonna take a look at Michigan State," said Erickson. "You know that's why they get fired up for stuff like this."
The Ericksons weren't the only ones getting their kids fired up about Michigan State.
"If a kid comes here and sees what it's like at this game, if they were having a lot of fun then hopefully they'll come here and be here in the fall" said Kevin Newman.
For the Whitford family, it's more than just a game, "Megan is a future spartan so she's got a couple more years to go so she will be a spartan," Chris Whitford said.
It's a family tradition, "her mother went here, I went here. I think this is big for her" said Whitford.
Megan still has time to make a decision but her family will always be green and white, "My grandpa and my dad influence me a lot to be a spartan when I'm growing up," said Whitford. "They take me to football games a lot."
