Attention parents!
New research from the AAA foundation for traffic safety shows alarming fatality rates.
When a teen driver has a teen passenger in their vehicle, the risk of dying in a crash jumps 45%for the teen driver.
The crash risk goes up to 56% for occupants of other vehicles and 17% for pedestrians and cyclists.
Teen drivers were involved in more than 1,000,000,000 police-reported crashes in 2016, resulting in more than 3,000 deaths.
AAA suggests that teens get adequate driver training and experience before parents allow non-family members to ride with a teen.
