LANSING, Mich. — Today, the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan postponed its 20th annual Run for the House event planned for Sunday, March 22, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to advisories from the city of Lansing and state of Michigan, Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan executive director Carolyn Hurst released the following statement:

“After careful consideration and at the recommendation of the state of Michigan and the CDC, the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan, in partnership with Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU), has decided that the Run for the House will not take place on Sunday, March 22, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We will have further conversations in the days to come to determine if the 2020 race will be rescheduled for a future date.

For the past 20 years, our House has provided a home-away-from-home to families with hospitalized and sick children in the mid-Michigan region and beyond. Our community’s health and wellbeing is always at the forefront of the work we do and today is no different. With a heavy heart, we believe this decision is in our runners', families' and volunteers' best interest for their health and safety.

We want to thank you for your interest in supporting the House and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause to those who registered and have been preparing for the race. If you registered for the race, you will be receiving information regarding refunds or rescheduled dates within the next several days. We are working diligently to ensure this process runs as smoothly as possible.

We’re grateful for the continued support from our sponsors, families, runners, board of directors and volunteers who’ve made this run possible since its inception. We look forward to our future Run for the House events.

On behalf of all past, present and future families who trust us to care for them at the House, we greatly appreciate your patience and generous support.
