A big announcement from Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley. He didn't say he's running for governor, just created an ad saying that something big is happening on May 30th. In fact when it comes to if he's running all he has to say is:
"Stay tuned," Calley said.
His ad says "We got the right things done and will again" he also mentions right to work and scrapping the old tax code. So it sure seems like he's going to throw his hat into the ring.
He was asked why he's waiting until after the annual chamber of commerce gathering on Mackinac Island for his announcement.
"Right now it's setting the stage in terms of letting people know who i am, where my heart is and what drives me as a leader,” Calley said. “And also to remind people how far we've come in the last six years. And when you think about what's happened in the past 6 years. What's possible in the next 10 years?"
As Calley hinted at a run, candidate Abdul El-Sayed was at MSU speaking about his goals.
"What folks are interested in is real solutions to real problems that people face,” El-Sayed said. “Whether that is building a 21st century economy that provides jobs for everyone, rebuilding our public education system, building public health, clean government. Making sure that our air and water are clean and pristine. That's the work we have to do and it's going to take us coming together right now for our future."
On the left El-Sayed is currently up against candidates Gretchen Whitmer and Bill Cobbs.
On the right is Jim Hines.
