The Jackson Symphony Orchestra presents "Movies and Marches," August 24 at CP Federal Square

The Jackson Symphony Orchestra is proud to announce its summer pops concert, Movies and Marches, to take place on Friday, August 24 at 7:00 PM CP Federal Square (212 W. Michigan Ave. Jackson, MI 49201).

JOIN US in downtown Jackson to experience music from films like Raiders of the Lost Ark, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Frozen! Complimenting these adventurous film scores will be marches including the Armed Forces Service Songs, familiar college first songs and The Stars and Stripes Forever. This concert is part of the Downtown Jackson Free Summer Concert Series in partnership with the Downtown Development Authority and the Michigan Theatre.

ABOUT THE JACKSON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

The Jackson Symphony Orchestra has a rich and vibrant history serving the Jackson area since 1949. The orchestra has performed with many legendary figures in the world of music including Dizzy Gillespie, Grant Johannesen, Ralph Votapek and Ian Hobson. Additionally, Mannheim Steamroller, Ann Murray, and the Manhattan Transfer have invited the orchestra to do multi-state regional tours with them. The repertoire of the orchestra has been adventurous and has drawn national attention as evidenced by frequent grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. In addition to its Signature Series concerts, the JSO believes in providing a diverse selection of musical offerings for the region including the Music-on-Tap singer-songwriter series, Up Close chamber music series and Pops concerts. The orchestra administers its own Community Music School, which serves over 300 students of all ages annually.
