UPDATE: More details are expected Tuesday morning about a teenager who was killed by a train on Monday.
Police have confirmed a 13-year-old was hit by a train a quarter mile west of Marsh Road after school.
Students have taken to social media to express their condolences for the teenager and many students in the district plan to wear blue on Tuesday in tribute to the 8th grader.
At this time, the name of the student is not being released.
Meridian Township police are still investigating as to why the teen was on the tracks, but say if anyone has information to please give them a call.

Police are still investigating and have not released the exact circumstances of the collision yet. The train is not blocking any roads at this time.
