A 17-year-old boy was struck and killed as he walked along Interstate 94 in Calhoun County early Friday.
Authorities say he had been living at Star Commonwealth, a home for troubled youth. It is about four miles from the crash scene.
The accident happened shortly before 6am. The eastbound lanes of the interstate were closed for nearly three hours for the investigation.
Investigators say the youth, from Flint, had been walking westbound along the eastbound median of I-94 when he was struck by a minivan traveling east. The driver of the minivan was identified as a 49-year-old man from Auburn, Indiana. He was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The investigation is continuing, but Sgt. Brent Lincoln of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office says it does not appear speed or alcohol were a factor in the accident.
