One person is dead and multiple others were taken to the hospital after police were called to a shooting on the 500 block of North Pine.

Police responded to the scene around 7:10 p.m. Monday.

Sgt, Lee McCallister, of the Lansing Police Department, confirmed that three people were shot. Two of the three people were teenagers.

One of the teenagers died on scene and the other one was taken to the hospital.

The condition and location of the third person is unknown.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.

The area is blocked off with police tape.

Police say although this is early in the investigation, they do believe this shooting does not appear to be a random act.

Officers say another shooting broke out shortly thereafter on the 1500 block of Illinois Avenue and police believe the shootings might be related.

"We're still trying to develop a connection. We believe that there's a good possibility that they are connected. I can't say for sure but we are looking into both of those as being related," McCallister said.

Police said the status of the third victim is unknown and they are working to find out who is responsible for the crimes.

"At this point we're asking anybody that has any information, may have witnessed anything at the park today to contact Lansing Police and try to help us out with what happened," Lt. Osborne, of the Lansing Police Department said.

Police are not releasing any further details on the shooting and they say the incident is still under investigation.
