Several Syrian-American artists are on the road, sharing music and messages about their homeland as war rages on.
The Arab American National Museum in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn hosts Hello Psychaleppo on Friday. That's the moniker of Samer Saem Eldahr, an electronic artist and musician who fled the Syrian city of Aleppo five years ago.
On Monday, the museum hosts Amplify Peace, a national tour presented by the Syrian American Medical Society that's raising money for relief efforts. The concert, which aims to raise money for Syrian relief efforts, includes rapper/poet Omar Offendum, funk and soul outfit Bassel & The Supernaturals.
Offendum says he's proud to raise awareness about Syria through music and the tour. With millions displaced since 2011, he says, "This is the world's problem, it's not just a Syrian problem."
