INKSTER, Mich- (WXYZ) — A purple Dodge Challenger was at the center of a police chase that State Police say started in Inkster, and ended in Detroit on 7 mile between Lahser and Evergreen.

“A car smashed into a pole and lots of cop cars,” said Samantha Dupree, who witnessed the end of the chase.

Before that scene in Detroit, Inkster Police came to an apartment complex for a reported breaking and entering with shots fired. They found three 3 suspects, one of which got in the purple Dodge and took off. The car rammed into police cars on the way out, and police fired shots at the car. A massive pursuit was underway.

“Next thing I know I just see a whole bunch of cops cars flying past, just flying back to back to back,” Dupree said.

State Police, Detroit Police, Inkster Police and a number of downriver agencies were called in to help, as the suspect eventually got away.

But not long after, Detroit Police patrolling 7 Mile found the Challenger wrapped around a pole on Stout St. The car was empty, and a chopper was called in to help with no suspect in sight.

Police have no one currently in custody. The investigation is still ongoing.
