Suspect tries to evade police and hits utility box dimming lights in area

Posted

Did your lights go out for a bit Tuesday morning in Homer? It could have been from a car chase.

The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office is looking into an incident that took place on Leigh Street near 24 1/2 mile road in the Village of Homer.

The driver tried to evade the police around 5:35 a.m. and lost control striking an underground utility box and parked car. There were some limited power disruptions reported.

The driver, a 33-year-old female from Albion, also has an outstanding warrant. She was taken to Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall for minor injuries and is in stable condition.

Deputies are looking to charge her with fleeing and eluding police and operating without a valid license.
