A man who led police to a dead body near Grand Ledge is being held as a homicide suspect.

Neighbors told FOX 47 News's Carla Bayron that they saw a man walking down the middle of East Grand Ledge Highway (M-43), just west of Grand Ledge Sunday night. His strange behavior led someone to call 911 which then led to the surprising discovery of a body.

A woman posted on Facebook that she was driving home when she saw a man dressed in dark clothing walking down the middle of the road. He tried jumping in front of her van and she swerved to avoid hitting him. Another neighbor who didn't want to appear on camera said their son called 911 because a man was acting strangely, walking in the road.

Someone stopped to help the man, and the man indicated there may be a dead person inside a house.

Around 6 p.m., deputies were sent to check on the man. Once the Eaton County Sheriff's Office arrived, they detained the man and then went to the red barn-like home he pointed out to them. Once they entered, they found a man dead.

Another neighbor said the death is not surprising, and he suspects the property is a drug house. He said he's seen suspicious people knocking on doors within the last few weeks.

Deputies said the man who led them to the house is a suspect and he's being held at the Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office is not releasing the names of the dead man or the suspect yet. They anticipate the suspect may be charged on Tuesday, but it's not for certain.

The Michigan State Police told FOX 47 News that they sent their crime lab in to help with the investigation.

Anyone who may have information about this case is asked to call Detective Sgt. Josh Ivey at 517-543-5447.
