A 34-year-old East Lansing man is behind bars, pending arraignment on several charges, after police say he fired a gun outside a bar early Monday.
Officers were called to Reno's East around 1:20 a.m. for a man firing multiple gunshots into the air. By the time officers arrived, the suspect had left. Witnesses gave a description of the suspect and his car.
While investigating that incident, police received another call of shots fired in the 1600 block of Greencrest Avenue. Officers located a suspect matching the description of the man in the Reno's East incident and confirmed it was the same person.
Scott Boheme lives across the street from the bar and was surprised to hear about gunfire in the air so close to home.
"Where we're living, we're close enough that we quite often hear Reno's speakers for music that they have outside at night, so I'm surprised that I actually didn't hear that," he said.
When police arrived on Greencrest Avenue, the man was heavily intoxicated. A loaded handgun and two fully loaded magazines were recovered.
