A 40-year-old man is facing charges after breaking into a home, holding a woman at gunpoint, and firing a shot inside the home.

Eaton County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the home in the village of Mulliken after dispatch received a call from the victim at 2:47 a.m. Sunday.

After firing a shot inside, the suspect left the victims house and returned to his home located in the 9000 block of Shilton Road in Ionia County.

The suspect's wife and daughter saw him armed when he returned and left the home.

The suspect eventually made his way out of the home and was arrested. He was taken to the Eaton County Jail and faces one charge of first degree home invasion and felonious assault.

The Eaton County Prosecutors Office is reviewing the case and could issue more charges Monday.

The Ionia County Sheriff’s Department and Michigan State Police assisted with the call.
