Students release salmon into local creek

There's some new fish swimming in the Sycamore Creek tonight.

Students from Gardner School in Lansing released salmon into the stream at Hawk Island Park Monday.

The school is part of the DNR's Salmon in the Classroom Program, which teaches students about the life cycle of salmon.

Students raised the fish from the time they were just eggs.

Teachers say it's a good way to get kids outside.

The DNR stocks salmon in Michigan lakes and rivers every year.
