A memo released to FOX 47 by Michigan State University shows concerns were voiced about William Strampel's behavior back in 2004.

The memo says that more than 20 students told their supervisors they were troubled by comments Strampel made during a student run telemarketing program.

Strampel allegedly made the following comments:

- "I may be the only straight person you ever meet from Saugatuck."

- Referring to Saugatuck, "one of the reasons I went to Hope College was so I could be 50 miles away from the nearest sin."

-To a female student, "You probably take birth control."

- When a female caller raised her hand, "Yes sir, Ma'am, Sir, I can't tell, what's your question?"

Students told their supervisors that the comments were offensive, and that they were surprised "he could get away with speaking to college students like that."
