LANSING, Mich. — The city of Lansing has announced that beginning on Monday. Sept. 16 the eastern most travel lane on Walnut Street between Kalamazoo Street and Allegan Street will be closed.
Washtenaw Street between Townsend Street and Walnut Street will also be closed.
The lane restriction and street closure is needed to allow utility cut restoration in this area, according to a press release.
The city's suggested detour for eastbound Washtenaw Street from Walnut Street will be to continue north to Allegan Street, east on Allegan Street to Townsend Street and south on Townsend Street to return to Washtenaw Street.
The suggested detour for westbound Washtenaw Street east of Townsend Street will be to travel south to Kalamazoo Street, west on Kalamazoo Street to Walnut Street, north on Walnut Street to return to Washtenaw Street.
Access to local businesses and residents in this area will be maintained.
Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes.
All streets will be reopened to normal traffic by 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, weather permitting.
