Strampel found guilty on all but one charge

LANSING, Mich. — The former dean of Michigan State’s College of Osteopathic Medicine was found guilty on three of the four counts against him.

Naturally, some mixed emotions from the defense.

"We’re very happy that the jury acquitted him on the most serious charge," said Strampel's lawyer John Dakmak. "We're disappointed obviously on the finding of guilt on the other three charges. We respect the decision of the jury, we just don't agree with it at this point."

William Strampel looked on as his verdict was read after seven days of testimony from former students and Michigan State administrators.

Despite two women claiming Strampel groped them, the jury decided there was not enough evidence to find him guilty on all of criminal sexual conduct.

"We never even remotely considered him to be someone that sexually assaulted anybody, and we believe that the jury has seen that also," said Dakmak.

Dakmak delivered a controversial line during closing arguments...saying all Strampel said was "locker room talk."

Today, he has no regrets about it.

"I learned a long time ago that it's the evidence that comes in that the jury focuses on."

The verdict was not received well by most.

Nicole Eastman, who testified Strampel groped her took to Twitter feeling let down.

And the Attorney General’s office released a statement, saying that something needs to be done.

Strampel is scheduled for sentencing on July 31st in Ingham County Circuit Court.
