Severe hail and heavy rain resulted in localized flooding leaving standing water Edgewood Boulevard near American Road in Lansing.

The rainfall rate hit almost four inches in one hour causing officials to shut down streets and respond to car failure calls.

MSU Police blocked traffic on Shaw Lane after cars shutdown on the campus road due to deep levels of water.

FOX 47 News’ Cryss Walker witnessed three cars stall on River Street in East Lansing when drivers tried to pass through the flood.

MSU student Braden Cook got help from a group of friends to push his car in a nearby parking lot.

“There was a car right in front of me and the puddle didn't look as big as it was and the other car got through it just fine and then as I was going through it my car just died in the center of it”, Cook said.

DWP crews were seen responding to the flood and are expected to work through the night to address trouble spots.
