The former CEO and president of USA gymnastics was in court Monday to face formal charges related to tampering with evidence.

Prosecutors say Steve Penny hid documents related to former doctor Larry's Nassar's activities at the Karolyi ranch.

USA gymnastics managed the facility near Huntsville, Texas.

Penny's attorneys say the documents were mailed to a location in Indianapolis, Indiana near his home, but they say penny never saw them, and it's unclear where they ended up.

Penny's attorney says, "We don't have anymore idea where these documents everyone is talking about, than anyone else, he's never seen the documents, he's never taken control of the documents, he doesn't know what's in the documents, and he doesn't know where they are."

Penny was released on a 20-thousand bond until his next court appearance.
