LANSING, Mich. — It's hard not to notice--there's a massive statue in front of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church on St. Joseph Street in Delta Township.
The 36-foot tall statue is a replica of a dream of Nebuchadnezzar--the kind of Babylon from the Bible.
The work of art was carved from a single redwood tree.
"The statue itself weighs some 20,000 pounds," Philip Mills, Pastor of the church, said. "Some chainsaw artist, I believe, in Oregon got inspired to do this. Took about a year to carve the entire statue."
The statue will be on display until Friday.
There's an information tent nearby to learn more about the history of the story.
