It's time to have your tornado emergency plan ready.
State police and emergency management personnel are asking Michigan residents to participate in a statewide tornado drill Wednesday. It starts at 1pm.
You can watch, or hear, alerts on NOAA weather radios and participating TV and radio stations.
Tornadoes are most common during the late spring and summer months.
State authorities are urging people to take part by practicing how they would react during a real severe weather threat.
Make sure your household as a designated meeting spot so everyone knows where to go. Take cover under something sturdy like a stairwell, and away from windows or doors.
Prepare an emergency kit ahead of time, with food, water, and supplies.
