Even if the weather is nice, you will probably hear tornado sirens going off tomorrow afternoon. A voluntary statewide tornado drill is scheduled for Wednesday, April 13, 2016.
The drill will take place at 1:30 p.m.,and nearly all state of Michigan facilities will be participating.
Businesses, organizations, families, and individuals are encouraged to participate, but no one is required to do so.
The Michigan State Police say that spring and summer can bring fast-changing weather conditions that may lead to the potential for severe weather. They encourage people to take steps to prepare for severe weather, before it strikes to minimize damage and ensure safe evacuation or shelter.
They suggest you make sure that you are aware of severe weather warnings and terms, and be sure you understand what different weather terms mean. You should also prepare an emergency supply kit, make an emergency plan, and create an emergency contact list.
