GRAND LEDGE, Mich. — The city of Grand Ledge is working with the Department of Environment, Great Lakes & Energy to monitor an active boil water advisory.

Grand Ledge issued the alert on Monday after a water main break on South Clinton Street/M-100 had affected water pressure.

According to a release from the city, Grand Ledge is conducting water sample testings as required by the EGLE, formally known as the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.

Grand Ledge officials say water samples were drawn Monday, May 20 and delivered to the EGLE certified lab for testing.

The results of those initial water samples are complete following a required 24-hour testing period.

The second round of water samples was drawn Tuesday, May 21, required 48-hours after the initial samples were taken.

The second round of samples will require 24-hours to complete.

Results of the second required EGLE tests are expected to be available by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, and will indicate whether the boil water advisory should remain in effect or if the water meets State of Michigan standards and is safe for all uses thus lifting the advisory.

City official says those results will be released to the public as soon as possible.
