LANSING, Mich. — A township in Jackson County is under criminal investigation.

State Troopers raided the Leoni Township offices Wednesday morning.

They tell Fox 47 they're looking into a possible violation of the open meetings act.

They won't say when that would have happened.

But there were complaints about what people called a "sneaky" and "rushed" special township meeting on Dec. 31, 2018.

The board voted to remove township attorney Eric White that day over applications for medical marijuana businesses.

Police did not have much to say about it.

"This morning we conducted an administrative search warrant in just records at Leoni Township Offices," said Lieutenant Andy Stoner, of the Michigan State Police.

Fox 47 reached out to several members of the township board and other office holders.

None of them would comment.
