State police have a new center to train for big disasters

Posted

If there's an emergency involving weapons of mass destruction you want to make sure the people in charge of handling it are on top of their game.

And that's what a new Michigan State Police facility is for.

We were allowed inside the "Homeland Security Training Center" Monday morning.

It's used to let first responders get experience dealing with different types of hazardous materials in a controlled environment.

The center has a rail yard with train cars, and other vehicles, they can use to practice.
