LANSING, Mich. — In order to protect our state's drinking water Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and two state agencies have launched a new campaign telling people about the changes to the Michigan Safe Drinking Water Act of 2018.

The changes include a new water sampling rule.

Governor Whitmer and her administration say they are working towards real and permanent solutions for clean water in Michigan.

The solutions include water test results of lead and copper that will be listed on their new website "MI Lead Safe" that will feature up-to-date information for Michiganders to protect themselves and their families.

"The state is committed to being proactive and transparent when it comes to addressing that possibility," said Governor Whitmer.

"We will work closely with local water authorities to rapidly respond to any test results showing high lead levels," said Governor Whitmer.

Their goal is to reduce and ultimately eliminate lead pipes used for drinking water.

If you'd like to learn more about where the water sampling is taking place, the state is hosting three Michigan safe drinking water meetings.

You can find out when they are, "Here".
