The state is working to educate pot shop owners and medical marijuana growers about the new statewide licensing process that starts next month.

On Wednesday, the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs held an informational session for people who want to apply. One pot shop owner says the whole process seems simple and straightforward.

Jeffrey Hank said, "It appears as if the state has a good IT department in place. I'm pretty impressed actually with the way LARA is running. That's the way we expect government agencies to run."

The state will start taking applications on December 15th. On Thursday, the city of Lansing will start taking apps for it's own licensing process.
