The state of Michigan is giving its first official green light to a Lansing medical marijuana business.

The state Bureau of Marijuana Regulation approved the HG Lansing dispensary on Oakland Avenue on Friday.

It's one of 10 dispensaries to get city approval and the only one now with both city and state approval.

The remaining nine could get dual approval in two weeks.

Meanwhile, the bureau will soon have to expand its role now that recreational pot is legal in Michigan.

"We're taking a look, obviously, at the initiated law and starting to take steps to implement that. We're anxious to work with the new administration to determine what policies we should adhere to when we're implementing that and we'll start taking applications at the longest in December of next year as the initiated law requires," said Andrew Brisbo, director of Michigan LARA.

Among the medical pot business applications that were denied a license on Friday was one from former Detroit Lions star Calvin Johnson, aka Megatron.
