LANSING, Mich. — A suspect is in custody after a standoff at a Lansing apartment that lasted almost 10 hours.
The man is a suspect in a robbery at a party store that took place just before midnight.
Several police officers and federal agents were engaged in a standoff with the suspect at the Walnut Park Apartments.
Officers with the Lansing Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at Toolan's Market on West Saginaw Street around 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
Lansing police told FOX 47 a man covered in black walked into the market, pulled out a gun, and demanded money from a clerk.
The suspect's face was covered, Lansing police said.
The suspect was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash before officers arrived. No one was hurt in the robbery.
Lansing police said that the investigation led officers to believe the suspect was inside an apartment at the Walnut Park Apartment complex on North Pine Street and West Willow Street
Officers with the Lansing Police Department, Lansing Township Police Department, Michigan State Police, and the FBI responded to the apartment complex.
Officers had the building surrounded and negotiators were on the scene to try to get the suspect to surrender.
The MSP Bomb Squad sent in a robot and shortly after, the suspect came out.
He was taken into custody without incident.
