A 20-year-old Elsie man is accused of stabbing his girlfriend multiple times.
Nicholas Allen Shultz was arraigned Thursday for the felony attempted murder of his 40-year-old estranged girlfriend.
Clinton County sheriff's deputies say Elise and Ovid police officers were dispatched to the couple's home in the 200 block of West Elm Street in Elsie shortly after 1 o'clock in the afternoon on January 6.
There they found a woman who had been stabbed several times in her back. The woman provided Shultz name.
Clinton County Sheriff's office K-9 unit conducted a track from the residence across several fields and wood lots for about two miles. Shultz was eventually captured in a wooded area near the intersections of Hollister Road and the Gratiot County line in Duplain Township.
The victim was taken to Sparrow Hospital, and sheriff's deputy say she is in stable condition.
Nicholas Shultz bond was set at $500,000. He's set to be back in court January 21.
