Update: St. Johns City Manager on unpaid leave

Saint Johns has placed its city manager on unpaid leave for the next thirty days.

A release from the mayor's office only says a year long investigation found he failed to follow certain policies.

Mayor Dana Beaman told us that LaForest was involve din 13 incidents that violated city policies including hiring his grandson for a summer job, going over the spending limit for a retirement party, and giving employees gas card rewards for going above and beyond.

Deputy City Manager David Kudwa will fill in starting Wednesday.

The mayor's office also says the city commission will review all policies and set new guidelines for all city employees to follow regarding ethics and donations.
