LANSING, Mich. — We use our cell phones to make calls every day.
Sprint customers in Holt haven't had that luxury for five days.
"We depend on this. That's what we've come to."
Vicki Parker is just one of many frustrated sprint customers in Holt.
"For the last week, our calls have been very muffled, dropped, sound like they're underwater, just plain cannot make a voice call,” she said.
She can't get in touch with the people she cares about most.
"I have an 89-year-old mother who's in the hospital, and I normally talk to her twice a day, and now she thinks I don't have time for her," Parker said.
Parker took to Facebook, where many others say they're having issues too.
They say they've called Sprint customer service but have gotten anywhere.
"They leave messages saying 'call us back.' we don't have service, how are we going to call them back?" Parker said.
Parker tells FOX 47 News that she's been a sprint customer for over thirty years and has never had any issues until now.
"We depend on our service, and if they cannot be reliable, that's not service. We aren't a priority, obviously."
She says she has no problem switching if the problem isn't fixed.
"Painful, but worth it. Off we go."
Multiple customers told FOX 47 News that they're worried about not being able to call 9-1-1 in an emergency.
Ingham County dispatch says they haven't heard of any issues, but that even phones with no service can call 9-1-1.
Sprint released the following statement to FOX 47 News:
“Sprint strives to provide a great wireless experience for our customers. Recently we had an issue with a tower in Holt that led to slower data and degraded voice services for some customers in the area. Our network teams thoroughly investigated the root cause as quickly as possible and are working to resolve the issue. We anticipate the complete restoration of all services very soon. We realize our customers depend on our wireless service and we appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience.”
