EAST LANSING, Mich. — Spring Design Day was Friday at MSU.
That's when MSU Engineering shows off over 200 projects created by their engineering students.
Electrical and Computer Engineering students added a device to a bike as a hazard detection and collision avoidance system that alerts the bike rider if a car is approaching from behind.
More than 70 civil and environmental engineering students got to dig through detailed plans for the new $450 million health care campus at McLaren Greater Lansing for their senior capstone project. Students worked in teams on specific and intricate aspects of the infrastructure for a project of this size and scope. Construction begins in spring 2019 and should be completed by 2021.
And, one of the frustrations of using a wheelchair is removing the footrest to move the patient and then losing that footrest when you need it again. Engineering students have invented a Slide and Hide system that keeps the footrests on the wheelchair, but hides it underneath and out of the way!
Projects are judged by faculty members and corporate representatives.
Awards will be handed out to the top Design Day Teams.
This event happens twice a year on the last day of each semester.
