Michigan drivers will soon be able to drive a little faster on some roads and freeways.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is expected to announce speed limit increases on 15-hundred miles of road today.
In January, Governor Rick Snyder signed a bill requiring M-dot and the Michigan State Police to increase speeds on certain roads.
The two agencies conducted a safety study, and found 600 freeway miles where drivers can go 75 miles per hour, and 900 non-freeway miles wheres drivers can go 65.
One of those stretches--- is US 1-27 in Clinton County, from I-69 to Saint Johns, it will go to 75 mph.
Other stretches include I-75 from Bay City to Mackinaw City, and US 131 north of Grand Rapids.
M-dot says the new speed limits will be posted sometime in May.
