EAST LANSING, Mich. — Thousands of MSU fans will be following the Spartans to Minneapolis for the final four.
At least one fan is making the trip for the third time.
There are fans, then there are superfans, then there's Bobby Courturier.
"I'm obsessed with Michigan State. Literally, all I talk about is Michigan State basketball, Michigan State football...I'm really into it," Courtier said.
And that is pretty evident if you take a look around Couturier's East Lansing apartment.
"As you can see I'm in heaven every day because of my collection."
Part of that collection is autographed basketballs, footballs, game worn football gloves, a case of Mountain Dew with Tom Izzo on the cans. His apartment is lined with photos and posters of players, even Spartan lights. Not to mention a personalized message from the coach himself.
"This is the 2000 National Championship court. I got him to somehow write a letter to me. I actually got this Christmas Day and I was crying I was so happy," he said holding it up.
It's more than just memorabilia. During our conversation, he reminisced about past big games where the Spartans came out victorious. What spurred his fandom? He isn't quite sure but says its a combination of his love for the color green and growing up in the area. Couturier said he hasn't missed a home MSU Basketball or Football game in the last 10 years.
"I think I have my Final Four tickets in here," he said flipping through a binder of ticket stubs.
He's been to the past two Final Fours where MSU has made an appearance. That number is soon to be three after he heads to Minneapolis for the game this weekend. Couturier says it's not a passion, more like an obsession, and he is more than ready to make the 10-hour trip to Minny to cheery on Sparty.
"I still have tears in my eyes because I'm just so excited. I know this is going to be the year."
Couturier leaves for the Final Four Thursday morning.
