LANSING, Mich. — Sparrow Health System says its patients were never in danger, despite an accreditation report that caused concern over patients' safety.

The report from the joint commission found 50 areas where Sparrow was not in compliance and said the conditions posed a threat to patients or other individuals served.

Sparrow points out that it never lost its accreditation.

The joint commission only issued a preliminary denial.

Sparrow says it is now in compliance with all of the joint commission's standards.

It expects a follow-up visit this summer to verify that.

Sparrow will not say who was responsible for the failure to meet the standards or if someone new has been put in charge of it.

The spokeswoman said no patients were harmed by any of the issues identified in the joint commission's report.
