Sparrow Health System and and Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital signed a memorandum of understanding today that creates a formal affiliation between the two hospitals.
In a statement released by Sparrow and Hayes Green Beach, health system administrators say the formal affiliation agreement is likely to be finalized in the early summer when more details will be announced. It starts a three year transition period.
"As a formal affiliate, we will further leverage the strength of HGB while assuring long-term sustainability of care close to home for Patients, " said Matthew W. Rush, HGB President and CEO.
"Over the next few years, we will merge investments to grow and integrate clinical services, implement new information technology and optimize operations - all of which assures sustainability and creates more value for those we serve."
Additionally, a community fund of $1 million will be established as part of the new affiliation agreement to support community health and vitality efforts in Eaton County.
