A southwestern Michigan 13-year-old has died after becoming ill following a race during a track and field meet.
Thirteen-year Jasmin Torres of Ida died Tuesday night at an Adrian Hospital.
Ida Public Schools Superintendent Richard Carsten tells the Monroe News (http://bit.ly/2pmSAes ) the Ida Middle School student began to feel sick after running the 400-meter dash. He says an athletic trainer and a physician immediately began checking on the girl, but her condition worsened and an ambulance took her to the hospital.
Carsten says Jasmin was still conscious and talking at the hospital, but her condition worsened.
He says her cause of death isn't known yet.
