There's a little less traffic noise for some people living along U.S 127 in North Lansing. Crews have started adding panels to the long overdue sound wall project on the east side of the highway.
MDOT is hoping to have the project finished by the end of the year. It was supposed to be done in October of 2016, but that didn't happen because of problems with materials and production schedules.
MDOT also says the contractor, Toebe Construction, will have to pay a fine of $2,650 for each day the project is overdue.
