LANSING, Mich. — Michigan's new secretary of state is planning to challenge a new law that puts restrictions on groups and people collecting signatures for ballot petitions.
The legislation was one of the last signed by former governor Rick Snyder before he left office.
It requires no more than 15% of a ballot drive's signatures count from a single congressional district.
Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says she plans to ask Attorney General Dana Nessel to weigh in on the new rules because they may not be constitutional.
