Posted

The son of a Michigan Court of Appeals judge has reached a plea deal with prosecutors in a federal child pornography case.

Sameer Gadola of Haslett pleaded guilty to three counts of Possession of Child Pornography Friday, according to federal court records. In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to drop production of child pornography and enticement charges.

Prosecutors say Gadola used social media to solicit nude photos from minors in 2016. Court records show the victims were a 16 year old boy in Texas, a 14 year old boy in Michigan, and a 13 year old boy in Tennessee. At the time, Gadola was 21.

Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. According to the plea agreement, the court has the authority to impose consecutive sentences for each count, for a total maximum sentence of 30 years. Gadola must also pay restitution to his victims and register as a sex offender.

Sameer's father, Michael Gadola, is a judge in the fourth district of the Michigan Court of Appeals. He was appointed in 2015.
