Snow-removal ordinances in effect

LANSING, Mich. — You're going to need to bundle up in lots of layers as you head out to shovel or snow-blow your driveway or sidewalks.

Most communities with a snow-removal ordinance give you 24-hours after the snow stops falling to clear the walks.

However, because of the dangerously cold temperatures, Lansing is pushing its deadline back until the temperature returns to above zero.

East Lansing pushed it back by 48 hours.

But the city of Jackson is asking people to clear the sidewalks if they haven't done so already.
