Delta Township's fire inspector tells us the woman inside at the time of the fire, called 911 and was able to get herself, her three dogs and her cat out safely. She's says she's alive for one reason.

"The home did have working smoke alarms and the smoke alarms are what woke the occupant up and got her out. So it's an actual smoke-alarm save today," said Michael Roberts, Delta Township Fire Inspector.

Firefighters were called to the home on Boxwood Lane, north of Willow Highway around 6:30.

The roof burned off before they were able to get the fire under control. Investigators don't know how it started.
