LANSING, Mich. — Hunting season is right around the corner with small game hunting opening up this Sunday.
Cottontail Rabbit, snowshoe hare, ruffed grouse, fox and gray squirrel will be in hunter's sights, but before hunters can head out to the woods and fields, they need to make sure they have a Michigan base license.
A resident base license costs $11 and is valid as a small game license, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
For those looking to hunt things like pheasant and waterfowl, hunters will need to get the correct stamps.
Hunters coming from out of state have options for a three-day or seven-day nonresident base license, according to the DNR.
